Piedmont Wind Symphony Opens 34th Season with Concerts for All
Winston-Salem, NC – The Piedmont Wind Symphony, known for its innovative approach to symphonic wind band music, is thrilled to announce an extraordinary lineup of performances for the upcoming season. From a concert celebrating all things brass to bringing friends and families together with holiday cheer and Broadway magic, the Piedmont Wind Symphony is devoted to delivering unforgettable musical experiences to the Winston-Salem community and beyond this season.
Piedmont Wind Symphony’s Music Director and Conductor, Mark Norman, said, “The Piedmont Wind Symphony will bring local and world-renowned artists to Winston-Salem to perform alongside its musicians in programs no one will want to miss this season!”
“The symphony will perform alongside international talents Adam Rapa; trumpet, Jeffrey Scott; horn, Matt Niess; trombone, and Øystein Baadsvik; tuba, in partnership with the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, in a concert dedicated to bringing incredible skill and virtuosity to our community. The Piedmont Wind Symphony will also perform the world premiere of Kaleidoscope by a recent UNCSA graduate, Peter Noll.
The Piedmont Wind Symphony shares the stage with Grammy and Emmy Award-winning artist Renée Elise Goldsberry, performing many infamous Broadway hits from Rent, The Color Purple, and Hamilton productions. Goldsberry will also perform Gospel favorites throughout this concert, and the Piedmont Wind Symphony will also reprise Omar Thomas’ exhilarating “Come Sunday.”
Norman also states, “The symphony will perform two concerts at Centenary United Methodist this season, both dedicated to bringing the community together through the power of music. With Home for the Holidays featuring local artist Stephanie Foley-Davis, soprano; WXII 12’s Wanda Starks, narrator; and Frozen Cathedral Concert for All in April, the Piedmont Wind Symphony has many exciting concerts toshare this season!”
World Class Brass All-Stars!

This concert is an electrifying celebration of all things brass featuring internationally acclaimed musicians Adam Rapa (trumpet), Oystein Baadsvik (tuba), Jeff Scott (horn), and Matt Niess (trombone).
Performing alongside the Piedmont Wind Symphony is also the UNCSA Watson Brass quintet. The program will include a world premiere of “Kaleidoscope” by Peter Noll, commissioned by the Piedmont Wind Symphony, Kevin Day’s “Concerto for Winds,” among other diverse and captivating pieces.
