Point Pleasant Boro knocks off No. 18 Southern – Boys soccer recap
Point Pleasant Boro sent the standings in Group 11 pool play of the Shore Conference boys soccer tournament with a 2-1 road win over Southern in Manahawkin. The win creates a three-way tie, which includes Red Bank Regional, at two wins and a loss each.
Southern — No. 18 in the NJ.com Top 20 — saw its record fall to 8-2-2.
In Group 11 play, the Rams have a win against Red Bank Regional. RBR knocked off Point Boro. And now, Point Boro has a win over Southern. All three teams won their pool play meeting with Asbury Park.
Southern has a plus-7 goal differential in pool play. Point Boro (7-4-1 record) is plus-4. Red Bank had a minus-1 goal differential.
